The Fourth Estate of the Realm - The Press Our dear Students I am delighted to welcome you to this year's Speech Day and Prize-Giving Ceremony of King's College, Lagos. As an enduring tradition, today's occasion affords the staff and students of King's College to reward excellence and celebrate their own. The scope of this report covers between September 2006 and August 2007. The Chairman of today's occasion, Captain Femi Adegoke is one of the eminent Old Boys of King's College. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Fermard Company limited.
Our Special Guest of Honor, Mr. Gboyega Fatimilehin is a good fri his sons have passed through College and one is still in the College. Two of his sons have passed through the college and one is still in the college. Furthermore, Diya, a distinguished Old Boy is his friend and partner. King's College Community is always proud to identify with you, Sir. The Guest Speaker of today's occasion is Alhaji the Lukman Obileye. He is a successful business executive, who has been involved in local and international youth-oriented developmental programmes. He works with a 2151 Century phenomenal banking outfit, which does not believe that anything is impossible Bank PHB. You are very welcome to a National Monument called King's College, Lagos. The 2006/2007 academic session was unique in the annals of educational evolution of Nigeria. It was indeed a trying period for all stakeholders in the educational sector. The Federal Government, in its wisdom embarked on the introduction of Public Private Participation Initiative into the running of all the Federal Unity Schools. The misunderstanding that ensued precipitated a nine week long industrial action by the teachers in all the Unity Schools. In order to assuage the tolls on the College business, the ever resilient teachers had to overstretch themselves, when the dusts were settled and work resumed. Extra lessons were organized and students were taught for two extra hours every school day.The current top management team of King's College, Lagos, includes the following staff:

The focus of the present Administration is sustenance of excellence excellence in academics, excellence in sports and excellence in co-curricula activities. This focus was the driving force of the .administration, pursuant to the fulfillment of the goals and objectives of the founding fathers of King's College, which include:
(A) To foster a spirit of oneness and national unity among students.
(b) To achieve the aims and objectives of Secondary education as set out in the National Policy on education through the pursuit of appropriate curricular, syllabuses and teaching aimed at preparation for useful living within the society and preparation for higher education.
(c) To develop individual talents in games, sports, cultural activities and academic pursuit in all students.
(d) To inculcate the spirit of leadership and self discipline in students through their participation in the management of classroom, boarding house, year groups, cultural and societalorganisations.
(e) To provide a teaching and learning environment for students to attain a high level of education for excellence, both in academic pursuit and development of an all embracing personality, through adequate and qualitative staffing, sound school management practices, and the provision of stable infrastructural facilities and resources in the College.
